Hi! Welcome to “Mind Your Peas and Cukes”!

I’m a vegetarian who loves all things food related (cooking, eating, grocery shopping…). I love to try new dishes and to experiment with flavours, and I’m a big fan of local farmers’ markets and small grocery stores. I try to make the recipes here new and exciting, but also simple to make with easy-to-find ingredients.

I really believe that healthy foods (including whole grains, vegetables, and fruits) are some of the most delicious foods out there and I try to demonstrate that through my recipes, which are often whole-grain or lower in fat, but which don’t skimp on tastiness.

I’m also a busy graduate student, and that means that most of my meals also need to be quick, cheap, and easy. I make a lot of my meals in big batches that my partner and I can enjoy for a few days, and that means that they need to be yummy enough that we’ll look forward to the leftovers!

I hope that you’ll enjoy my blog and that I can share my love of food with you, by providing recipes that are healthy, inexpensive and easy to make – and above all, delicious!

– Emily

Cool … this is the most amazing website!! PLEASE keep up the great work. *I* might even start cooking again using your recipes. I, too, like to go to Farmer’s Markets. Check out the one downtown in the summer … they have a booth with homemade CUPCAKES. Mmmmmmmm

This is a great site! I, too, love to go to local farmers’ markets and obscure little farms that people do not pay attention! I grew up in the middle of one of the largest metropolitans in the World where my father used to grow our own vegetables in the backyard!
